Warning: How Our Farmland and Food Supply Are Being Taken

Farmland Food Supply Control. Since the early 2000s, between 70 and 100 million hectares of farmland have been grabbed worldwide. These lands are no longer viewed as living, nourishing resources: they have become an “asset class,” a vehicle for speculation. The 2007–2008 crisis showed where this leads: financialization pushed more than one hundred million people into hunger. It was not an accident. It was a demonstration of power.

The Ukraine: Laboratory of Lost Food Sovereignty

Ukraine is today the most visible laboratory of this logic. In November 2022, an official memorandum assigned BlackRock a strategic advisory role in the country’s “reconstruction.” This is not simple aid: by shaping legal and financial frameworks, these institutions decide who may acquire land, at what price, with what financing and what guarantees. The stage is set for the takeover of some of the world’s most fertile soils.

More than nine million hectares are already under private control. Behind these groups stand the asset managers: Vanguard Group, banks, and sovereign wealth funds. These asset-management structures are the majority shareholders of the banks (JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs) that indebt states and of the multinationals (Bayer-Monsanto) that control seeds. They own the entire system, from credit to seed.

Land Grabbing: A Global Mechanism of Predation

This mechanism has already been applied with devastating ruthlessness on other continents. Wherever these predatory logics operate, populations sink into absolute poverty:

  • In India: The system has driven thousands of farmers to suicide, strangled by debts contracted with multinationals for seeds and fertilizers they can no longer afford.
  • In Africa: 99-year leases are signed, jeopardizing local food security for the benefit of global markets.
  • In Latin America: Subsistence lands are seized from farmers to become industrial export monocultures.
  • In Australia: A terrifying threshold has been crossed by turning water into a financial asset. Speculation now treats access to water like gold; this financialization of vital resources ruins farms and kills livestock, suffocating local producers for the benefit of investors.
  • In the United States: Billionaire Bill Gates has become the largest private owner of farmland (more than 110,000 hectares). He buys land to impose his model of industrial, technological, seed-driven agriculture. Since these massive capital flows entered the sector, land prices have quadrupled, making independent farming impossible.

The Mechanism of Europe’s Organized Agricultural Bankruptcy

Across Europe, farmers have understood: the system makes their profession impossible. This is not a crisis; it is a spoliation of our food sovereignty organized in three steps:

  1. Suffocate: Crush producers under suicidal regulations and debt.
  2. Finish off: Use Mercosur to flood the market with low-grade products, rendering local production unprofitable.
  3. Recover: Once bankruptcy is engineered, investment funds buy the land for a song.

This is the application of Klaus Schwab’s vision: “You will own nothing.” The reality is total dependence—modern serfdom. Switzerland is not spared: through EFTA and Mercosur it faces the same pressure, chronic indebtedness, and the programmed disappearance of its farms.

Biological Domination and Total Control Through the Suppression of Food Sovereignty

The goal is control of humanity through the management of hunger. After attempting to eliminate cash to track every transaction, they are now targeting food. Destroying food sovereignty means seizing the source of life in order to decide who eats and who does not.

This is a project of biological domination. In this vision, the human being is merely an adjustment variable. The integration of digital protocols and programmable identity would technically allow access to subsistence to be cut off with a single click. One false step, and the risk of social and physical liquidation is real.

Conclusion: Choose Food Sovereignty or Obedience

How far will obedience go? History has shown how destructive systems are installed through millions of small daily acts of compliance. One cannot claim sovereignty while delegating one’s conscience to a hierarchy or an order received. The mainstream press that relays propaganda and the structures that constrain those who feed us all participate, through action or through surrender.

One day, each of us will have to look our children and grandchildren in the eye and explain why, through comfort or habit, we helped create the dependent world they will have to live in.

Land is not a commodity and food cannot be a financial weapon. Too many peoples are already dispossessed by the greed of these predatory logics.

Stop waiting for a savior. While we wait, the mechanisms advance. It is time to step out of our comfort zone, to refuse blind obedience, and to rise together. They have the money and the structures, but their power rests solely on our submission and our division. We are the power of numbers. Let us unite to give our children a future worthy of the name.
